Program Overview

The 8th International Summer School for Students and Young Scientists – Aktru 2026 provides a unique opportunity for participants to engage in multidisciplinary research focused on the natural conditions and habitats of Arctic and Alpine regions. The program explores relief, soils, permafrost, glaciers, biota, and the traditional ways of life of indigenous communities within the context of rapidly changing global climate conditions.

Delivered by distinguished international and Russian scholars, the Summer School combines academic lectures, guided field excursions, and hands-on research activities. Participants will experience one of the world’s most diverse high-mountain environments—the Altai Mountains—recognized for their exceptional landscapes and ecological significance, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Golden Mountains of Altai.”

Through immersive scientific training and field-based learning, students will develop essential competencies in ecological research, environmental observation, interdisciplinary analysis, and teamwork in remote field settings.
