Overview

Hosei University, established in 1880 in Tokyo, Japan, is one of Japan’s oldest and most respected private universities. With 15 undergraduate faculties and 15 graduate schools, Hosei University offers diverse academic programs and a strong international network.

The Institute of Integrated Science and Technology (IIST) is an English-based graduate program for Master’s and Doctoral degrees designed to prepare students for advanced research and careers in science and technology. The program welcomes international students and provides opportunities for interdisciplinary study in a global environment.

Tuition Fee & Financial Supports

Tuition fees for the IIST Graduate Program at Hosei University vary by degree level.

  • Master’s Program:
    Annual tuition fee JPY 880,000, plus admission and other applicable fees.

  • Doctoral Program:
    Annual tuition fee JPY 600,000, plus admission and other applicable fees.

Scholarships & Grants

Hosei University offers various scholarships and grants for international students, including:

  • Hosei University Centennial Graduate Scholarship

  • IIST Daddy Longlegs Scholarship (available for selected Asian countries)

  • Research and conference presentation grants

A tuition reduction system is available and offers a 20% reduction for eligible self-supporting international students.

Admission Timeline

  • Mid-March: Submission of supervisor matching questionnaire

  • Early April: Submission of application documents to Hosei University

  • Mid-May: Online interview

  • End of May: Announcement of admission results

  • 16 September: Enrollment
