Graduate School of Science and Technology, Kumamoto University, Japan offered a Short Term Exchange Program for 6 months or one year in April 2025 intake.

Students are exempted from the payment of any entrance examination fees, admission fees and tuition fees. HOWEVER, they shall be responsible for their own expenses, including travel expenses, accommodation costs and health care fees.

Accommodation
It is NOT mandatory for exchange students from partner schools to live in the dormitory and may find their own accommodations in the area, but should be aware that finding off-campus housing, especially for only one semester, can be challenging. Spots in campus housing are reserved for exchange students.

Cost of living
Approximately, 80,000 JPY/month if living in the dormitory.
Approximately, 100,000 JPY/month if renting a public apartment.
Insurances
Health insurance (National Insurance System)
The mandatory Japanese health insurance can be procured upon arrival in Kumamoto. (approx. 3,000 JPY per month)
Travel insurance
National Insurance System will not cover pre-arrival and post-departure incidents. Purchasing travel insurance is strongly recommended.

– Active postgraduate student at ITS (S2/Master or S3/Doctoral) all batches

2. Certificate of Enrollment

3. A letter of recommendation from a professor or a research supervisor who can evaluate the applicant’s personality and ability in study and research.
4. Official transcripts in English of academic records from each college and university attended, including information such as GPA and ranking.
5. An official score of Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Test of English for International Communications (TOEIC), or International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Desirable scores are greater than 71 for TOEFL-iBT, 700 for TOEIC, and 6.0 for IELTS
6. Learning Agreement (Please download from here http://bit.ly/its-student-exchange ). Please kindly fill dept coordinator with the signature Head of Department / Coordinator academic at your department. Please leave it blank at Institutional Coordinator (it will be done by ITS GE )

8. GCW/GCA Certificate

The incomplete application will not processed by Mobility Team.

All of your documents must be in PDF and collected in 1 (one) .zip/.rar file. If you have finished and submitted your Study Abroad Application form, YOU HAVE TO SEND email to studyabroad@its.ac.id cc to Ms. Mia (mia.hernawati.sby@gmail.com) confirming that you have filled out the Study Abroad Application Form and submit it. Please use this subject: “Confirmation Study Abroad Application_Kumadai_NAME_NRP”. The submission deadline extended until 30 November 2024 ( 09.00 WIB). The Interview Session will be held on 31 November 2024 (09.30). The selected applicants need to send the material to ITS GE as soon as finished the interview. ITS GE will send the documents of application to Kumamoto University
