Dear ITS Students,

The 2017 UQ Development Fellowships are now open for applications. There are two types of fellowships: the University of Queensland Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (UQ PDRF) for early-career researchers and the University of Queensland Strategic Research Fellowships (UQ SRF) for mid-career and senior staff.

GPEM Internal Process – Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (UQ PDRF)
GPEM is able to submit two UQ PDRF applications for ranking by the Faculty Research Committee, with no limit on the number of UQ SRFs that may be submitted. However, we are asking that EOIs for both are submitted to gpem.research.office@uq.edu.au by close of business Friday 30 July 2016.

Please include with your EOI:

·        – Current Resume

·        – A one-page document which identifies your Capacity Area and nominated Capacity Area Mentor, and addresses the selection criteria:

o   The excellence of the applicant relative to career opportunity.

o   The excellence of the program of work to be undertaken as determined by quality, innovation and collaborative potential of the research.

o   The alignment of the proposed research with UQ’s current or emerging research strengths and, where applicable, teaching priorities

The School will review the EOIs and if endorsed invite the applicant to submit a formal application to the Faculty. Full applications will be due 9.00am on Thursday 08 September.

Funding

As in previous years, Central will pay for 50% of the fellowship salary funding. Within the Faculty of Science, the Faculty/Schools will then split the remaining base academic salary cost 25%/25%. Any additional salary loadings or relocation costs will be the responsibility of the School. This scheme does not provide project funding.

Eligibility

For the UQ PDRF stream, applicants may be internal or external to UQ. Internal applicants (applicants currently employed at UQ) must provide a compelling academic and/or social justification indicating why their research needs to be continued at postdoctoral level at this institution. In addition, internal applicants for the UQPDRF applying within the Faculty of Science will only be considered for funding if their first appointment to UQ was after 28 September 2013.

Attached are the Scheme Guidelines and instructions on how to submit your application should you be invited to do so by the School.
