Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) was founded 55 years ago. It has 6 colleges (science, engineering, EE&CS, business, design, and humanities & education) and 1 school (law), 27 departments, 27 graduate programs (among them 13 are with programs leading to doctoral degrees). In research, CYCU is among the top 15 universities in Taiwan (Taiwan has close to 170 universities so far; among them one third are public universities and two thirds are private universities; in 2008 CYCU obtained grants from Ministry of Education that was ranked No. 12 in Taiwan). In addition, all departments in College of Engineering and College of EE&CS have been accredited by Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET, equivalent to ABET in the United States) and IEET became one of the signatories (others including U.S.A., Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea) of Washington Accord in 2007.
