Surabaya, April 24, 2025 — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) welcomed a visit from the Ministry of Transmigration to strengthen collaboration in supporting the development of the Patriot Generation through the Transmigration Patriot program. The meeting took place at the 5th floor Meeting Room of the ITS Research Center.
The visit was attended by two leaders from the Ministry of Transmigration: Bondan Djati Utami, S.Si., M.M. (Director of Community Empowerment of Transmigration) and Ir. Sofyan Hanafi, M.Si. (Director of Transmigration Featured Product Development). The delegation was warmly received by the Rector of ITS, Prof. Bambang Pramujati, S.T., M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., along with the university’s leadership team.
During the meeting, both parties discussed opportunities for collaboration, particularly in regional-based research development, human resource empowerment, and the contribution of higher education institutions to transmigration area development.
Two main programs were introduced: the Patriot Scholarship and the Patriot Expedition. The Patriot Scholarship is designed to provide educational opportunities for D4, undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students who are committed to contributing to the development of transmigration areas, with planned funding from LPDP and implementation starting in 2026. Meanwhile, the Patriot Expedition targets alumni ready to directly engage in various transmigration locations, starting in 2025.
In her remarks, Bondan Djati Utami emphasized that the Transmigration Patriot program aims to strengthen the transmigration ecosystem through synergy between academia and local communities.
“We aim to encourage greater youth involvement in developing transmigration areas through education, research, and real action on the ground. Collaboration with ITS is a strategic step towards building productive, inclusive, and self-reliant regions,” said Bondan.
Similarly, Ir. Sofyan Hanafi added that the involvement of universities like ITS is expected to foster research-based innovations that contribute to the development of regional flagship potentials.
Through this collaboration, ITS and the Ministry of Transmigration reaffirm their commitment to enhancing the role of higher education in national development while cultivating a generation of patriots ready to contribute to Indonesia’s progress.
