ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to reinforce its alumni network in Taiwan through the Alumni and Industrial Gathering Taiwan 2026, held in Taipei City, Taiwan, on Saturday, August 8. The event was attended by 73 ITS alumni currently based across various regions of the island nation.

The Rector of ITS, Prof. Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati, S.T., M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., regarded this gathering as a strategic moment to enhance the role of alumni in improving the quality of education at ITS. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of advancing research quality, fostering innovation, and developing ITS talent on the international stage.

Prof. Bambang noted that this initiative represents the institution’s commitment to strengthening ties with its alumni while optimizing the potential of the ITS diaspora network. The connectivity established through such engagements is expected to evolve into a structured and sustainable collaborative force. “We aim for the presence of our alumni to have a more tangible impact on the alma mater and to open new avenues for contribution to ITS,” the Rector stated.

More significantly, the Rector encouraged alumni to assume active roles in accordance with their respective capacities and professional backgrounds. Given the considerable number of alumni who have successfully led corporations, he highlighted their potential to mentor young ITS talent, foster partnerships, and build innovation-driven collaborations. “Their contributions may take the form of mentoring, offering internship opportunities, providing career insights, and bridging students with the professional world,” Prof. Bambang elaborated.

For those alumni engaged in academia and research, the Rector called upon them to contribute through joint research initiatives, publications, guest lectures, co-supervision arrangements, and academic exchanges involving both students and faculty. Such collaborations are expected to expand ITS’s international research networks, strengthen its academic reputation, and enhance the global competitiveness of its graduates.

Beyond exploring opportunities for contribution, the gathering also served as a platform for ITS to listen to the needs of its alumni and maintain a strong connection with the alma mater. The Head of the ITS Alumni Relations Unit, Dr. Ir. Arief Abdurrahkman, S.T., M.T., introduced various service channels and engagement opportunities accessible to alumni, including online administrative services. “This approach is designed to facilitate the emergence of collaborations that are relevant to the needs of both parties,” remarked the faculty member of the Department of Instrumentation Engineering.

He affirmed that building an alumni network abroad is not merely about fostering a community, but rather constitutes a strategic asset for the university. As ITS aspires to become a resilient, impactful, and globally recognized institution, every contribution made by its alumni in their respective fields of work also serves to enhance ITS’s reputation as a hub of technological innovation.

This alumni gathering was further complemented by strategic visits to National Taiwan University (NTU) and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST). These visits represent ITS’s efforts to expand opportunities for academic collaboration, research partnerships, mobility programs, and global engagement with one of Asia’s leading technological universities.

The reinforcement of the alumni network in Taiwan constitutes one of ITS’s strategic initiatives to broaden its international connectivity and collaboration. This activity also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education and Goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. (*)
