In 2015, the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemristekdikti) initiated a program to enhance the university’s reputation towards World Class University (WCU). At that time, the Ministry targeted 7 universities in Indonesia to be listed in the top 500 world’s best universities. This is in line with ITS vision:
“To become the world-class university that contributes to the independence of the nation and becomes a reference in education, research, and community service as well as the development of innovation, especially those that support industry and maritime affairs.”
Therefore, in 2016, ITS began participating in this program. There are 4 international ranking systems that are followed by ITS, namely Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Times Higher Education (THE), Webometrics, and UI GreenMetric.
