ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) once again demonstrates its commitment to participating in the digital transformation journey within the health sector. This time, ITS joined forces with Universitas Airlangga in launching Haji C-AIRRe at the Surabaya Regional General Hospital (RSUD Haji) on Wednesday, July 15.
This event marks a milestone in the collaborative development of artificial intelligence (AI) for hospital healthcare services. In this regard, East Java Vice Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak stated that AI implementation across various sectors has become inevitable, including in healthcare. A new phase in the health sector is emerging, with AI assuming a strategic role in delivering optimal healthcare services.
Therefore, the implementation of technological transformation must align with existing community needs. This necessity places higher education institutions such as ITS at the forefront as drivers of study and research. “Because this technology serves as a supporting tool that enhances the quality of physicians’ analysis without supplanting their final medical decisions,” Emil explained.
Supporting this initiative, ITS Rector Professor Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati, S.T., M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., explained that this collaboration focuses on digitizing both administrative and clinical hospital services. Bambang expressed his optimism regarding the sustainability of the partnership with RSUD Haji Surabaya. “We hope this serves as the initial gateway to disseminate ITS academic community innovations in medical technology to the broader public,” Bambang stated.
Meanwhile, ITS Vice Rector IV for Research, Innovation, Collaboration, and Alumni Affairs, Professor Agus Muhamad Hatta, S.T., M.Si., Ph.D., detailed the technologies integrated within this collaboration. He explained that the digitalization process focuses entirely on enhancing hospital service quality through three flagship platforms: AI MINA, iBrain2U, and the newest addition, Haji C-AIRRe, developed in collaboration with UNAIR.
The Professor from the ITS Department of Engineering Physics expressed his hope that every designed innovation would achieve full implementation. For Hatta, as he is commonly known, this collaboration holds significant importance for the downstreaming and commercialization of ITS innovation products. “RSUD Haji Surabaya serves as the initial strategic partner (early adopter) in this collaboration,” Hatta explained.
The event continued with the signing of a further collaboration agreement between ITS and RSUD Haji Surabaya through the Faculty of Medicine and Health (FKK) and the Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (FTE-IC). This strategic collaboration between ITS and RSUD Haji Surabaya represents a tangible realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 concerning Good Health and Well-Being, and Goal 9 concerning Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
