There are 6 areas of expertise learned in the Department of Ocean Engineering:

  1. Design and Construction of Ocean Structures: Related to the analysis and design of the strength of the structure of the sea building, the strength of the material, reliability, and risk analysis
  2. Hydrodynamics of Ocean Structures: Related to the identification of behavior of fluid flow, analysis of dynamic response of ocean structures to wave force excitation and analysis of random ocean waves
  3. Structure, Material, and Construction of Ocean Structures: Related to the integrated design of offshore platform systems and other marine buildings, techno-economic analysis of ocean structures, technology, and management of marine building production.
  4. Ocean Energy: Related to the identification of the condition of the marine environment in terms of oceanography and geology, the use of ocean waves, currents, winds and tides as an alternative energy source, and conversion of ocean thermal energy.
  5. Coastal and Ocean Environment: Related to the design of facilities and coastal structures identifying the behavior of seabed conditions, integrated coastal area management and designing platforms with concrete structures, and solving the problem of pollution of the marine environment
  6. Underwater and Deep Sea Engineering: Related to the design of facilities and structures of deep ocean waves and currents and the design of production support facilities for the deep sea
