Vision of the Department of Ocean Engineering (DTK): To make the Department of Ocean Engineering at FTK ITS a world-class institution of higher education in ocean engineering, recognized as a leading reference in Southeast Asia.
Mission of the Department of Ocean Engineering (DTK): The mission of DTK is formulated based on the above vision, which includes:
1. Providing higher education in ocean engineering for the younger generation. 2. Conducting innovative and high-quality research in ocean engineering that is responsive to developments and addresses societal issues on both national and global scales. 3. Offering ocean engineering-based services to the government, industry, and society on a national and international scale. 4. Managing the Department ethically, effectively, transparently, and accountably.
The curriculum for the Bachelor of Ocean Engineering Study Program for the 2018-2023 period has been designed with the principle of outcome-based education (OBE), where the Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL) of the program are aligned with the KKNI Level 6. The 2018-2023 curriculum also covers a body of knowledge based on the general foundation of knowledge in science (with a specific emphasis on mathematics, physics, and chemistry), basic engineering science, offshore structure, hydrodynamics, offshore structure planning, marine environmental science, coastal engineering, scientific methods and principles, decision-making, floating structures, offshore structure production techniques, communication techniques, techno-preneurship, and underwater engineering.
In 2019, when the Bachelor of Ocean Engineering Study Program participated in the General Accreditation (GA) from the International Accreditation Agency IABEE, the CPL based on KKNI Level 6 was reformulated to facilitate the measurement of student and graduate achievements. During this accreditation process, the 2018-2023 curriculum document was supplemented and improved by including a portfolio of all mandatory and elective courses. Subsequently, in 2020-2021, together with the establishment of the Offshore Engineering Bachelor’s Program (TLP), an evaluation of the body of knowledge was initiated, which would later be applied to the 2023-2028 curriculum, along with adjustments to meet the requirements for both LAM Engineering accreditation and IABEE International Accreditation.
As part of stakeholder considerations, a meeting was held in 2022 with similar study programs from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Hasanuddin University, Institute of Technology of Sumatra (ITERA), and Institute of Technology of Kalimantan (ITK) during the Annual Meeting of the Indonesian Ocean Engineering Consortium on December 1-3, 2022, at the Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University. Following the formative evaluation mentioned above, a Curriculum Development Team for the Bachelor of Ocean Engineering Program for 2023-2028 was established, tasked with conducting a summative evaluation and preparing the complete curriculum document.
