ITS Campus, DTF Opinion — The Department of Engineering Physics (DTF) at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) is known as a multidisciplinary department bridging science and engineering into a unified system. Focusing not only on physical theory, this study program equips students with analytical and technological design capabilities to address the challenges of modern industry.
Operating under the auspices of Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, DTF ITS places a systems approach as the foundation of learning. Students are trained to understand the interrelationships between components in an industrial process, enabling them to design integrated, efficient, and sustainable solutions.
One of the main strengths of this department lies in its ability to combine various branches of science, ranging from mechanics and electronics to computing. This integration is applied in the development of instrumentation systems, process control, energy auditing, and industrial facility reliability analysis. Through this approach, students do not merely become technology users, but also its designers and developers.

Beyond academic aspects, DTF ITS students are actively encouraged to participate in collaborative projects and technology competitions. Involvement in these activities hones technical communication, project management, and leadership skills. These soft skills serve as crucial complements to the technical competencies highly needed in the professional world.
In terms of career opportunities, DTF ITS graduates have a broad spectrum of paths. They can pursue careers as industrial control system designers, energy analysts, safety and reliability consultants, or technology developers in the telecommunications and manufacturing sectors. Their multidisciplinary nature allows graduates to adapt across various sectors, including high-tech industries.
Not limited to the industrial sector, graduates also have opportunities to pursue further studies or enter the field of research and development. The foundation in research methodology and system modeling skills gained during their studies serves as a vital asset for contributing to national technological innovation.
With a comprehensive learning framework and a wide coverage of competencies, DTF ITS stands out as a strategic choice for prospective students seeking career flexibility without compromising scientific depth. The department offers a balanced combination of a solid foundation in science and practical application of technology relevant to future needs. (*)
