[Surabaya, October 7, 2026] — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), through Tekno Sains Academy ITS, continues to contribute to strengthening human resources in the field of Halal Product Assurance (Jaminan Produk Halal/JPH) through the Halal Supervisor Training for MSMEs Batch XXVIII. The training was held online via Zoom on October 6–7, 2026, and was open to participants from diverse backgrounds, including business owners and members of the public seeking to enhance their competencies in halal product assurance.
The training was officially opened by the Director of the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) ITS on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. The opening marked an important moment in reaffirming ITS’s role in supporting the development of competent human resources in halal product assurance, particularly by preparing Halal Supervisors who understand and are capable of implementing the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) within business operations.
Notably, the online training attracted participants from various regions across Indonesia, including East Java, Central Java, West Java, Bali, Aceh, Central Sulawesi, and East Kalimantan, as well as members of the Nahdlatul Ulama Special Branch Executive Board (PCINU) Taiwan. The geographical diversity of participants demonstrates the growing need for competency development in the field of Halal Product Assurance. It also highlights the international dimension of halal human resource development, as the Indonesian diaspora in Taiwan can contribute to strengthening halal literacy and competencies while creating opportunities for cross-border collaboration in halal products and the Halal Value Chain.
The participation of attendees from Taiwan also provides an opportunity for ITS to expand its international network for halal human resource development. Knowledge of the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH), halal certification, and halal product management gained through the training can serve as valuable preparation for supporting the development of the halal ecosystem among Indonesian communities and business networks connected with Taiwan.
The training covered various topics, including halal product assurance regulations and scope, the halal certification process, the concepts of halal and haram, halal fatwas, and the implementation of the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH).
Strengthening the competencies of Halal Supervisors has become increasingly strategic ahead of the implementation of Mandatory Halal in October 2026. Business owners need more than an understanding of a product’s halal status; they also need effective management systems that ensure halal requirements are consistently implemented and maintained throughout their business processes.
In this context, Halal Supervisors play an important role in assisting companies and business owners in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the SJPH. The availability of competent halal professionals is expected to accelerate business readiness in complying with halal product assurance requirements while strengthening the Halal Value Chain from upstream to downstream.
Through this training, ITS reaffirms its commitment to developing competent, professional, and digitally adaptive halal human resources. These efforts are expected to strengthen business readiness for Mandatory Halal, accelerate halal product certification, and contribute to the development of an increasingly strong, inclusive, and competitive halal industry ecosystem in Indonesia, both nationally and globally.
