[Surabaya, June 11, 2026] — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) actively participated in the Halal Supervisor Training, held over three days from June 9–11, 2026, at the ITS Research Building, 5th Floor, DRPM Meeting Room 2, with participants from various institutions. The training was organized by Tekno Sains Academy ITS, officially recognized as a partner by the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), and supported by Bank Indonesia, East Java Representative Office (KPwI Jatim), represented by Mr. Yono Haryono, Ph.D., Deputy Director of KPwI Jatim, who delivered a welcoming speech and motivated the participants.

“The readiness of halal supervisors ahead of the implementation of Mandatory Halal in October 2026 is extremely urgent, Increasing the number of certified halal supervisors is also expected to accelerate the Halal Value Chain, especially from upstream to downstream, so that in the future, processed food and beverage products can obtain halal certification more quickly,” said Haryono.

The training also emphasized hygiene, food safety, and halal compliance as critical foundations for the food and beverage industry, in line with the definition of food safety under Law No. 18 of 2012 on Food: the conditions and efforts required to prevent food from possible biological, chemical, and other contaminants that can endanger human health, while ensuring that products are safe for consumption and compliant with religious and cultural norms.

“Participants are trained to ensure that production processes, management, and documentation within companies are ready to comply with regulations, so that the products produced are safe, halal, and meet national standards,” added Prof. Dr. Nurul Jadid, S.Si., M.Sc., Head of Sub-Directorate of Community Service, Directorate of Research and Community Service ITS, who provided guidance and supported the training implementation.

With this activity, ITS reaffirms its commitment to training professional halal supervisors, supporting the national halal industry, and strengthening the ecosystem of halal culinary and food products that are safe, healthy, and trusted.
