The tasks and activities of the Fundamental Science Research Center are as follows:

• Performing up-to-date scientific research activities in all areas of fundamental science, leading to the discovery of new knowledge and the creation of new perspectives on methods and materials.
• Implement scientific publications in reputable international journals.
• Conducting research that is in line with Indonesia’s current challenges and needs and emphasizes the potential of Indonesia’s resources.
• Conducting prototype research that has high commercial value as a continuation of the utilization of inventions from previous research, for nurturing innovative research.
• Building research, publication and community service cooperation with other domestic and foreign universities, government and private sectors in the field of science and fundamentals.
• Conduct training activities related to the development of science and fundamentals.
• Encouraging the participation of the Fundamental Science Research Center in producing an innovative product included in the 2020-2024 National Research Priorities.
