Naval Architecture

Master's Program (S2)

As one of the departments providing the best naval architecture and marine engineering higher education services in Indonesia, the Department of Naval Architecture provides the Master's Program in Naval Architecture (PMTP) which can be completed in 4 (four) semesters. Essentially, the Master's Program in Naval Architecture has been running since 1993 under the name MSc Link Program, which was a collaboration between the Faculty of Marine Technology (FTK) and the Department of Marine Technology, University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. The Master's Program in Naval Architecture was developed to respond to the increasing demand for professional workforces regarding master's graduates in Naval Architecture, alongside the strengthening of national and global issues, namely inter-island connectivity, independence of the shipbuilding industry, subsea spatial management, renewable energy, marine environmental pollution, and others. This Master's Program is supported by teaching staff with qualifications: 6 professors and 10 doctors, and supported by available facilities including classrooms, 5 laboratories, a library, internet connection, sports facilities, and others. The Department of Naval Architecture provides opportunities for bachelor's (S-1) and diploma IV (D-IV) graduates from various disciplinary backgrounds to continue their studies to the master's level. The degree obtained by graduates is Master of Engineering (M.T.). Students are declared graduated if they have completed a total of 36 passed credits (sks) consisting of mandatory lectures, elective courses, research, and thesis writing according to the curriculum. Several other graduation requirements include a minimum TOEFL score of 477, and a national journal or international seminar publication. The normal study period for this program is 4 semesters (2 years) with a maximum academic leave of 2 consecutive semesters. Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember conducts entry selection for the Master's Program (S-2) through 2 programs, namely:
  1. Recognition of Prior Learning Program (RPL) Recognition of learning outcomes from formal education in Higher Education in the form of Continuation of Education Level, Cross-Type, Transfer, and Non-Linear Continuation (A1), as well as recognition of learning outcomes from non-formal, informal education, and/or work experience (A2).
  2. Non-RPL Program Formal education in Higher Education in the form of Similar Continuation and Linear Continuation. For example, Applied Bachelor's (D4) to Applied Master's (S2 Applied) and linear, or Bachelor's (S1) to Master's (S2) and linear.
