ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) again opens opportunities for prospective new students through the Test-based National Selection (SNBT) route. After previously announcing the Achievement-based National Selection (SNBP), ITS is now conducting a 2026 SNBT socialization to share information on the Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) system online on Thursday (2/4).
In his presentation, the Secretary of the 2026 SNPMB Committee Bekti Cahyo Hidayanto SSi MKom explained regarding the SNBT registration which has been open from March 25 to April 7. Bekti revealed that the SNBT route has a higher opportunity with a minimum acceptance of 30 percent of the total of all routes at ITS as a Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH). “This does not include the independent route whose policy will be determined by each respective state university (PTN),” he added.
Bekti also revealed a difference from the previous year regarding the selection of UTBK locations. If previously participants chose locations based on the PTN, this time the selection is made based on the city. This ITS Information Systems Department lecturer explained there are 80 city choices for UTBK locations with 74 PTN UTBK centers. “Later, the PTN location will be determined by us (the committee) by considering the coordinate points,” he explained.
Furthermore, just like the previous year, there are seven subtests categorized into scholastic potential tests and literacy tests within a 195-minute working time. He revealed that the literacy test in Indonesian contains questions leaning towards science and technology (saintek) as well as social and humanities (soshum) readings. Bekti also emphasized the existence of assessment weighting depending on each chosen study program.

Meanwhile, the ITS Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs Prof Nurul Widiastuti SSi MSi PhD gave her statement that mental and spiritual readiness can be a key in addition to participants’ study preparation. This Professor of the ITS Chemistry Department reminded of the importance of good preparation accompanied by prayers and parental blessing before heading to the implementation day.
Returning to the 2026 SNBT socialization at ITS, the Head of the ITS Admission and Promotion Sub-directorate Nani Kurniati ST MT PhD explained ITS’s position as one of the highly sought-after universities. As the 3rd best campus nationally based on THE World University Rankings, ITS provides 46 study programs from the eight faculties opened.
Not only that, if previously ITS accepted a total of 6,900 new students from all routes, this time there is a 3.63 percent quota addition becoming 7,035. In addition to SNBP, ITS also provides four other routes, one of which is SNBT with a higher quota. Nani also emphasized that participants should choose accurate sources in searching for information. “PTN websites and social media can be considerations in getting information,” expressed the lecturer of the ITS Systems and Industrial Engineering Department.
On another occasion, the ITS Director of Technology and Information Systems Development Bagus Jati Santoso SKom PhD explained about ITS’s preparation as an exam implementation location for UTBK. This year ITS increased the computer laboratory capacity from 45 labs in the previous year, becoming 49 labs.
This allows ITS to accommodate up to 1,047 UTBK participants in one session. ITS itself opened 13 exam sessions taking place over seven implementation days, so in total ITS can accommodate 13,611 UTBK participants.
He also affirmed that ITS has prepared three main servers that meet national qualifications with mature mitigation scenario preparations for obstacles in the field. “In the next two days, a simultaneous national trial will also be carried out to ensure the entire system,” stated this lecturer of the ITS Informatics Engineering Department.
This socialization becomes ITS’s effort in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program on point 4 regarding Quality Education. In this regard, Nani also hopes that prospective new students can utilize every existing opportunity and ensure nothing is missed. “I hope participants can continue to struggle with the various doors of opportunity that exist,” she concluded motivatingly.
