Nine medals from four different sports were brought home during the competition in Jember, Saturday (22/7).

The Head of the Character Section of the ITS Student Affairs Directorate, Imam Safawi Ahmad SSi MSi explained, ITS managed to win three gold, one silver, and five bronze medals from a grand total of 10 sports with participation in 28 categories. “This year, there is an increase in the acquisition of gold medals, with the largest contribution from Taekwondo,” he said.

The ITS Taekwondo team succeeded in presenting two gold medals for the women’s kyorugi under 57 kilograms category on behalf of Neyza Fauziya Ajryanie and the women’s kyorugi under 67 kilograms category on behalf of Zenni Zhezhilia Rachman. In addition, Laras Aditya Putri also managed to present a bronze medal in the women’s kyorugi under 73 kilograms category.

ITS taekwondo Student Activity Unit (UKM) coach, Yulian Musnandar SH, revealed that the achievements of the taekwondo team were quite satisfying. “With the training duration of less than one month, this is an excellent result,” he said.

Not only the taekwondo team but also the ITS bridge team managed to achieve a gold medal for the mixed pairs category on behalf of Nurul Fajr Romadhona and Muhammad Amin. Muhammad Amin also won a bronze medal in the mixed pairs category with Akhmad Amdani.

The bronze medal was again contributed by the delegation of the ITS field tennis team. As for the sport of rock climbing, the ITS delegation, Rahma Sahara Juhartoyo, managed to come out as a silver medalist in the women’s individual-lead category. “Incidentally, this year is the first year that ITS has sent a delegation for rock climbing, and thank God, it immediately won a silver medal,” said Imam Syafawi or who is familiarly called Isa.

Isa said that this year the competition for athletes from various universities in East Java tended to be tighter after the easing of COVID-19. For this reason, his party is trying to support and monitor the preparation of ITS athletes in the coming years more intensively.
