ITS Marine Engineering Department graduate Salsabilla Aulia Fitri successfully graduated as the youngest undergraduate graduate at the age of 20 at the 127th ITS Graduation Ceremony

ITS Campus, ITS News – At the age of 20 years and 3 months, Salsabilla Aulia Fitri was named the youngest graduate at the 127th Graduation Ceremony of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). This student of the ITS Marine Engineering Department was officially confirmed as an engineering graduate, Saturday (18/3) tomorrow.

Up to this point, the girl, often called Salsa, had previously taken accelerated education in junior high school (SMP). This is one of the reasons for continuing his prestigious ambitions by graduating in 3.5 years at the undergraduate level. “For me, young age is not a trigger for obstacles to arise because everyone is a first-timer in their respective aspects,” said the daughter of Mohammad Yusuf and Tri Fortune.

Sharing her experience during her studies, Salsa said that time management is one of her valuable lessons. This bespectacled student has joined organizations such as the Banyubramanta underwater robot team and the ITS National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Student Chapter. “Equally important, I also participated in many internship experiences to strengthen my self-competence,” said this traveling hobbyist.

The student born in Kediri on 22 December 2022, who has also participated in the 2022 Istanbul Youth Summit, shared her memorable experience as a member of the Banyubramanta robot team. Namely, the team awards were won in the Wonderful Indonesia Robot Challenge (WIRC) 2021 and Technogine 2020 competitions.

Flashback to when he was a freshman, according to him, shipping science had become his dream study program. Born and raised in an environment that is literate about maritime affairs, Salsa believes that the younger generation’s contribution to the marine world is also very much needed. Because of that, after graduating later, Salsa also wants to have a career of her competence and experience so far.

He explained that this background was in line with the title of his Final Project (TA), namely, Optimization of Propeller Selection Due to the Replacement of the Dharma Rucitra 3 Ship Main Engine. Salsa said this topic was raised based on a real case study belonging to the shipping company.

In her case, the ship initially had a near-sinking incident near the harbor. However, due to the urgency for the ship to be operated immediately, replacing the engine by optimizing the propeller with a new machine was necessary.

This girl from Sidoarjo revealed that to what extent she works, academics remain her top priority. This principle led him to achieve a good title with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.56. “If there is a desire, always believe it can happen with Allah’s permission. The most important thing for us is always to pray and try,” he explained, motivating.

Even though it is considered fast and full of achievements, the study journey of this youngest graduate always encounters obstacles that must be faced. However, Salsa always believes that opportunity may not come a second time. That made him not give up on working amid a busy college life. “Experience is expensive, so as much as possible, don’t miss it if an opportunity comes up,” he concluded. (ITS Public Relations)
