ITS Develops Renewable Energy-Based Herbal Edutour

ITS Campus, ITS News – The Center of Public Policy, Business, and Industry (PKKPBI) ITS is back innovating for the country. Together with Panderman Batu forest farmer group and Batu City government, ITS developed a herbal edutour area based on renewable energy and circular economy that was inaugurated with the first stone laying, Tuesday (8/9).

ITS PKKPBI chief Dr Ir Arman Hakim Nasution MEng said the Oro-oro Ombo Herbal Edutour area, Batu was designed as a Green Techno Park (GTP) area. The area will be filled with rehabilitation centers for stroke that are also being turned into national herbal research centers. In addition, this GTP will be equipped with natural recreation area, education, garden workshop, greenhouse, camping ground, to equestrian area.

Meanwhile, The Mayor of Batu Dra Dewanti Rumpoko MSi welcomed this cooperation. She said, The Batu Government with ITS immediately conducted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday (1/9) ago. “From the MoU, we hope to strengthen sustainable cooperation until 2025,” explained the Mataram-born woman.

Dewanti said that the community together with the Batu Government was happy and fortunate because ITS chose their area as a development area for edutour area. In addition to adding to the beauty of Batu, he said, the realization upstream-downstream is not only proud of theircity and ITS. “But also can boast Indonesian people,” she said enthusiastically.

Continuing the mayor’s statement, Vice-Rector IV ITS Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng PhD said that this cooperation is the first step of ITS to help innovate in the business of edutour and herbal research. “Surely the surrounding community and tourists will be educated with herbal knowledge here,” said the lecturer of ITS Mechanical Engineering Department.

In response to both, Arman also hopes that this GTP edutour can become a branch of Science Techno Park (STP) ITS. A company that can give birth to the concept of innovation civitas academica ITS. “So that it can be commercialized and provide great benefits to the community,” explained the expert Management Strategist of ITS Business Management Department.

 

Students from Community Service Abdimas ITS Team also participated

Event of laying the first stone for the edutour area in Batu, Tuesday (8/9), this also became the release of the Students Community Service (KKN) team of ITS Community Service (Abmas). About 80 students were released to raise Community Service in Oro-oro Ombo Village, Batu. The mayor of Batu expected the students’ Community Service to become a daily part of the surrounding community.

In the prayer, Arman told the Student Community Service participants that students should be grounded and not just struggle in the highs part of society.
