ITS Help Students During Ramadan In The Middle Of Pandemic

ITS Campus, ITS News-COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the increasing need for healthy food in the community, especially during the fasting of Ramadan. To that, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) help to fulfill the student’s logistics needs for whose that still staying around the campus for suhoor purposes during Ramadan.

Around 200 packages of rice and beverages delivered by ITS volunteer officers Covid-19 to the student place everyday start from 02.30 in the morning, they have begun to move to distribute food and drinks from the communal kitchen.

Director of Student Affairs ITS, Dr. Imam Abadi ST. MT feels if this program is indispensable, concerning ITS student condition that difficulties to get food when time suhoor. Because food stalls or vendors which closed from the Covid-19 pandemic that also affected in Surabaya city.

From 24.00 pm, the communal kitchen has been busy with cooking food for students. After two hours of cooking and packing, the new package began to be distributed to several student areas that have been data and are always updated daily.

“As for the students who do not do fasting or non moeslem, then the logistics assistance will be distributed at 08.00 a.m.,” he said.

Besides food, Imam explained if ITS also share a healthy drink such as fruit juice and herbs from spices. So that it can increase the student’s immunity.

If students are allergic to certain foods, they can immediately notify their Covid-19 volunteers who will be prepared for a suitable meal. “As well as international students who are unfamiliar with Indonesian food,” he said.

The lecturer of the Department of Physics Engineering Lecturers also acknowledges the success of this program is also not detached from the help of donors either in the form of money or goods and all volunteers both from lecturers, educational personnel (Tendik), and students who have worked hard.

Imam is very grateful to all parties who have supported this program in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. “Hopefully, the logistics assistance of this student can continue until the month of Ramadan ends,” he concluded.

Anisah Amalia, one of the students of the Department of Industrial Engineering who get assistance, feels very helped by the existence of this program. Indirectly, this assistance also affects the security of the students themselves. “Given the current condition must be careful in doing the activity outside,” she said.
