Short Story of KPM ITS

In the 1990s, prior to the establishment of a specialized agency to handle quality assurance, ITS began to develop a basic concept of the importance of maintaining and improving the quality of education on campus. Quality assurance at that time was more informal, with monitoring and quality improvement efforts carried out sporadically and without a structured system. At this time, there was still no special institution or unit that focused on quality assurance as a whole. Most of the efforts related to quality assurance are carried out by existing academic units, such as faculties and study programs, although they do not yet have standard guidelines or systems.

1. ITS Quality Assurance Center (2004)
   • Initial Establishment: As an effort to improve quality, ITS formed the Quality Assurance Center. This center functions as an institution that oversees and controls the quality of education and research at ITS in a more structured and systematic manner. 
   • Decree Number: Rector's Decree No. 0285.1/K03/OT/2004. 
2. Institute for Quality Assurance, Management, and Protection of Intellectual Property (LPMP2KI) ITS (2013)
   • LPMP2KI ITS was formed by combining the quality assurance function with the management and protection of intellectual property. This is done to ensure that ITS not only maintains the quality of education and research but also manages the results of research in the form of intellectual property. 
   • LPMP2KI ITS was established based on REGULATION OF THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION AND CULTURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA NUMBER 86 OF 2013 CONCERNING THE ORGANIZATION AND WORK PROCEDURES OF ITS. This regulation covers the organizational structure, duties, and functions of the institution.
3. ITS Quality Assurance Office - KPM (2016 - present)
   • Along with the increasing need for more focused and integrated quality assurance, ITS established the Quality Assurance Office (KPM).KPM ITS has more specific responsibilities in ensuring the quality of all academic and non-academic aspects of ITS. 
   • KPM ITS is responsible for academic (education, research, and community service) and non-academic (organization, student affairs, human resources, facilities, and college management) quality assurance. 
   • The establishment of the ITS KPM is regulated by ITS Rector Regulation No. 10 of 2016. 
4. Kantor Penjaminan Mutu (KPM) ITS (2025)
   • Starting in 2025 to support the internationalization of ITS, KPM has a new management, namely the Institutional Reputation Unit.
   • The establishment of the ITS KPM is regulated by Peraturan Rektor ITS No. 35 Tahun 2024.

• Increased role in accreditation: KPM ITS is tasked with supporting all study programs in ITS in the accreditation process, both study programs and institutions. Not only in National Accreditation but also in International Accreditation, KPM ITS is also responsible for ensuring that the accreditation results are used as a basis for improving the quality of education in ITS.   
• Continuous monitoring and evaluation: The ITS KPM not only focuses on quality assurance internally, but also involves feedback mechanisms for continuous improvement.
