Surabaya, IT Journalistic — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), through the Department of Information Technology (DTI), is aggressively strengthening Indonesia’s digital defense fortress. To confront massive cyber threats, particularly from transnational hackers, DTI ITS collaborated with the Association of Higher Education in Informatics and Computers (APTIKOM) East Java and the Global Cybersecurity Community (GCC) Forum to host the “Cyber Security Talks Collaboration for a Resilient Digital Future” on Monday (10/8) in Room 701, ITS Tower 2 Building.
Carrying the central theme of “Challenges, Opportunities, and Cross-Institutional Collaboration Strategies in the Era of Digital Transformation,” the forum served as a strategic melting pot for academics, global communities, and IT practitioners. They gathered to dissect the anatomy of modern cyber threats—ranging from data breaches and ransomware attacks to transnational hacker syndicates exploiting crucial digital infrastructures.

The discussion series featured key figures, including Kumar Pudashine representing the GCC Forum, Eko Heri Susanto, S.Kom., M.Kom. from APTIKOM East Java, and the Head of the ITS Information Technology Department, Dr.techn. Ir. Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi, M.Sc. The trio dissected cybersecurity issues from three distinct perspectives: global industry practices, regional academic standardization, and university research innovation.
Beyond mapping global threats, the primary outcome of this event focused on upstream improvements: education. The discussion was steered toward generating recommendations for aligning cybersecurity curricula based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE). This alignment targets the reinforcement of Expected Learning Outcomes (CPL) to support IABEE international accreditation, while simultaneously formulating a competency map that is ‘link and match’ with global cybersecurity standards.

This triangular collaboration between DTI ITS, APTIKOM East Java, and the GCC Forum also yielded long-term cooperation commitments in curriculum development, joint research, and professional certification programs. This proactive measure is designed to ensure university graduates are fully equipped to handle the dynamics of cyberattacks in the professional world, which evolve by the second.
