Campus ITS, ITS News – In a continued effort to establish sustainable relationships with international university partners, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has once again organized the International Staff Mobility (ISM) program. This initiative, conducted by the ITS Directorate of Global Partnership (DKG), took place over five days, commencing on Monday (4/5), at the ITS Global Language Center Unit (UPBG).

The Head of ITS UPBG, Cahyani Satiya Pratiwi, S.S., explained that through this activity, ITS introduced Indonesian culture to 30 staff members from partner universities across eight countries. Several international institutions actively participated, including Shibaura Institute of Technology, Thuyloi University, and the University of Malaysia of Computer Science & Engineering.

Furthermore, Mrs. Pratiwi elaborated that the ISM serves as a strategic effort to enhance the appeal of ITS’s internationalization programs. By fostering positive impressions, it is anticipated that staff from partner universities will subsequently promote ITS to students at their home institutions. “Consequently, collaborations such as student exchange programs can emerge from this ISM series of activities,” she added.

Beyond introducing ITS, the event featured a variety of engaging sessions, including interactive games, as well as introductions to Indonesian culture, language, and traditional cuisine. Through these activities, participants exchanged experiences and perspectives via meaningful interactions. “We also introduced the city of Surabaya and various tourist destinations in East Java,” she stated.

Enthusiasm of ISM participants during a gaming session focused on recognizing traditional Indonesian culinary specialties.

Meanwhile, a representative from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah, Ts. Dr. Yasmin Abdul Wahab, expressed her appreciation for the ISM series. In her view, global-scale programs such as this can significantly enhance the potential of students from each participating university. “I hope that activities which unite partners in a manner that is both enjoyable and meaningful can be repeated in the future,” she remarked, while enjoying the event.

This collaborative initiative between the ITS UPBG and the ITS DKG indirectly strengthens ITS’s presence on the international stage. The involvement of numerous universities in the ISM aligns with ITS’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
