Campus, ITS News – The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Student Chapter successfully hosted the prestigious Business Case Competition (BCC) PETROLIDA 2026. This national-level competition served as a platform for Indonesian students to hone their business analysis, strategic problem-solving, and decision-making skills in the energy and oil and gas sectors.
The competition series ran from its registration period on March 8 to April 9, 2026. The high enthusiasm from various universities reached its pinnacle during the final rounds held offline from May 8 to 10, 2026, at the ITS campus, Surabaya.
Tiered Competition Presents Real-World Challenges BCC PETROLIDA 2026 was designed in three stages, challenging participants to solve varying business problems in each phase. This concept was specifically designed to test the students’ adaptability to industry fluctuations and their expertise in formulating comprehensive and sustainable solutions.
The first stage, the Preliminary Round, began on March 16, 2026. All teams were required to submit an abstract as an initial online analysis, allowing open competition from various regions across Indonesia. Teams that successfully passed then advanced to the Semifinal Round. In this phase, the complexity of the cases increased, requiring participants to compile an in-depth paper covering technical, economic, business strategy, and sustainability aspects.
Final Presentation of BCC PETROLIDA 2026
The best teams that outperformed their competitors advanced to the Final Round, the most prestigious stage of the PETROLIDA series. In this round, finalists faced real-world business case challenges from the energy industry. Unlike previous rounds, participants had to present their solutions directly before a panel of professional judges at the ITS Tower 1 Building, 5th Floor. Communication skills, sharpness of arguments, and analytical rationality became the ultimate keys to victory.
Intensive Mentoring Fosters Quality Innovation Realizing the importance of the quality of the innovations produced, the committee did not merely hold a competition but also facilitated mentoring sessions from May 3 to 6, 2026. These sessions brought finalists together with practitioners and academics to refine their ideas before competing on the final stage.
The peak of the competition on May 8–9, 2026, showcased a stunning display of business strategies and solution recommendations. Each team had to defend their arguments under the pressure of critical questions from the judges, simulating real-life boardroom situations in the professional world.
Gala Dinner and Awarding Night of PETROLIDA 2026
Appreciation and Industry Networking The PETROLIDA 2026 series concluded elegantly with an awarding night titled Gala Dinner & Awarding Night on May 10, 2026. This moment of appreciation was dedicated to all involved parties, while also serving as a networking platform bringing together students, academics, and professionals in the energy sector.
