ITS Campus, Surabaya — The Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering (FT-IRS), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, continued its commitment to developing industry-ready graduates by organizing the HYSYS Advance Software Course 2026 on April 26. The program aimed to equip students with advanced skills in process simulation and industrial analysis.

Carrying the theme “SimulAction: Advanced HYSYS Mastering for Real World Application,” the training focused on strengthening students’ mastery of simulation software, particularly in system analysis, process modeling, and operational optimization widely applied in industrial settings.

The ability to operate technical software such as HYSYS has become increasingly essential for Chemical Engineering and Food Engineering students in facing complex and technology-driven industrial challenges. Through this program, participants gained not only theoretical understanding but also practical experience in simulating and analyzing industrial processes in a comprehensive manner.

The one-day training began with an opening speech by Raden Darmawan, who emphasized the importance of such programs in enhancing students’ academic and professional readiness.

The session continued with remarks from Azhar Dwi Febryan, who expressed appreciation to both participants and the organizing committee for their dedication and enthusiasm in supporting the success of the event.

The main session featured a presentation by Nalendra Ravi Kumara, focusing on the application of HYSYS in more complex and industry-relevant process simulations. The material was further enriched through interactive discussions and hands-on simulation sessions based on real case studies, enabling participants to apply their knowledge more effectively.

This program was a collaboration between COMDEV HIMATEKK ITS and CHERNIVAL, with a total of 90 participants. In addition to ITS students, the event attracted participants from various universities across Indonesia, including Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta, Universitas Internasional Semen Indonesia, and Politeknik Negeri Malang.

Participants showed high enthusiasm throughout the program, both from those attending offline and online sessions. This was highlighted by Bintang Catur, who noted the active engagement of participants during discussions and simulation exercises as a key indicator of the program’s success.

Through this initiative, students are expected to enhance their analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork skills in addressing process engineering challenges using simulation tools. Furthermore, the program serves as a platform for academic collaboration among students from various institutions in supporting innovation in chemical and food engineering.

The successful implementation of the HYSYS Advance Software Course 2026 marks another strategic effort by ITS in bridging the gap between academic learning and industrial demands, particularly in the field of process simulation.
