ITS Campus, Surabaya — The Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering (FT-IRS), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, reaffirmed its commitment to producing industry-ready graduates by organizing the HYSYS Basic Software Course 2026 on April 25. The program served as a platform to enhance students’ competencies in process simulation and analysis using industry-relevant software.
Carrying the theme “Shaping Industry-Ready Engineers: Preparing for Industrial Challenges through Process Simulation & Innovation,” the training aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of process simulation fundamentals, simple system analysis, and key concepts widely կիրառ used in industrial practices.
The use of simulation software such as HYSYS has become an essential competency for Chemical Engineering and Food Engineering students amid rapid technological advancements in industry. Through this program, participants not only gained conceptual knowledge but also developed fundamental skills in performing basic process simulations and analyses, forming a strong foundation for more advanced learning.
The one-day event commenced with an opening remark by Badril Azhar, who emphasized the importance of participating in competency development programs beyond formal lectures. He highlighted that such initiatives play a crucial role in preparing students for both academic and professional environments.
This was followed by remarks from Azhar Dwi Febryan, who expressed appreciation for the participants’ enthusiasm and the organizing committee’s dedication in ensuring the success of the event.
The session continued with a material presentation by Rendra Panca Anugrah, focusing on the basic application of HYSYS in industrial process modeling. The training was further enriched through interactive discussions and hands-on simulation sessions, allowing participants to directly apply the concepts they had learned.
This program was a collaboration between COMDEV HIMATEKK ITS and CHERNIVAL, involving a total of 60 participants. Notably, attendees came not only from ITS but also from other institutions such as Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jawa Timur and Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm throughout the sessions, actively engaging in discussions and simulation exercises.
Through this initiative, students are expected to enhance their analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork skills in addressing process engineering challenges using simulation tools. Moreover, the program fosters academic collaboration among students from various universities in utilizing simulation technology to support innovation in chemical and food engineering.
By the end of the program, the organizing committee expressed hopes for the sustainability and broader impact of similar initiatives in the future. The successful implementation of the HYSYS Basic Software Course 2026 marks a concrete step by ITS in bridging the gap between academic learning and industrial demands, particularly in the field of process simulation.
