History of Department of Ocean Engineering

Department of Ocean Engineering (DOE) – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is the oldest study program on ocean engineering field in Indonesia. DOE was founded in 1983 under the Faculty of Marine Technology, which has the goal of producing expert graduates in the fields of design, construction, and maintenance of coastal and offshore structures, as well as experts in the field of marine environment and energy conversion.

DOE has been widely recognized as a leading center for the development and research of Ocean Engineering, both in the fields of Coastal and Offshore Engineering. DOE has “A” rank from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) and has been internationally recognized by the London-based Royal Institution of Naval Architecture (RINA). At present, DOE has obtained accreditation from the International Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE) Indonesia.

In addition, DOE also collaborates with educational institutions, governments, and industries both nationally and internationally. DOE has competent and professional human resources in their respective fields. There are 5 professors, 17 doctors and 9 magisters as lecturers. DOE is also supported by 6 laboratories and 1 studio to supports the learning process.
