Surabaya, ELECTICS ITS — The Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (ELECTICS) at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) once again brought pride through two remarkable young graduates at the 132nd ITS Graduation Ceremony. They are Alexander Weynard Samsico, the best undergraduate graduate with the highest GPA, and Wan Sabrina Mayzura, the youngest graduate who completed her bachelor’s degree at the age of 20 years and 4 months. Both embody the excellence, resilience, and achievement that define ELECTICS graduates.
Born in Surabaya, Alexander Weynard Samsico has been passionate about computers since childhood. The eldest of three siblings spent much of his early years playing games and exploring various computer applications, which later sparked his curiosity about programming. “I became interested in understanding how I could create those kinds of programs myself,” he recalled.
During his studies at the Department of Informatics Engineering, Weynard was active not only academically but also in student organizations such as Schematics ITS and the Bangkit program. One of his most memorable experiences was joining the Schematics NPC competition committee and attending the REEVA concert, which he described as a rare and exciting moment during college life.
As a teaching assistant, Weynard faced new challenges in explaining complex materials in simple and effective ways. “This responsibility pushed me to revisit the material and seek deeper understanding,” he shared. This experience strengthened not only his technical skills but also his time and energy management.
His perseverance culminated in his final project titled “Solving SPOJ Problem 36941 – AND Queries Using Bitmask Dynamic Programming Algorithm,” which earned an Accepted result on the international SPOJ platform a mark of an efficient and correct program.

“There were times when I felt exhausted, especially when projects and exams piled up, but I tried to manage everything step by step and make the best use of my time,” he said. Weynard is currently pursuing an internship while preparing for further studies and job opportunities.
“Keep going! Even when you’re at your lowest point, stay focused on your goals. Everything you do now will eventually bear fruit,” he reflected.
Meanwhile, Wan Sabrina Mayzura from the Department of Informatics Engineering caught attention for completing her bachelor’s degree at just 20 years and 4 months old. Born in Pekanbaru and raised in Bengkalis, Riau, Sabrina grew up in an academic family, both her parents are lecturers.
Her accelerated path was not due to shortcuts, but because she had been on a fast-track education since childhood. She entered elementary school at the age of five and joined an acceleration class in high school, allowing her to finish secondary school in just two years. “So, my educational path has been faster since the beginning,” she explained.
Despite being younger than most of her peers, Sabrina never felt out of place. Instead, she saw campus life as a place to mature and grow. “The challenge was more about mental adjustment. But the people at ITS were very supportive, so I was able to grow comfortably,” she shared.

Throughout her studies, Sabrina engaged in various activities from research and committees to community service. She collaborated with her supervisor on research projects and successfully published her thesis findings in the Q1-indexed IEEE Access journal. This achievement encouraged her to continue her studies through the FAST-D ITS scholarship, a program that accelerates the completion of bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
“It’s okay to feel tired or unsure just don’t stop. Everyone has their own pace. Focus on your own process and progress, because the journey doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful,” Sabrina reflected.
The journeys of Weynard and Sabrina show that success has many paths. Weynard reached it through persistence and time management, while Sabrina achieved it through maturity and a relentless spirit of learning. Both stand as proof that ELECTICS ITS continues to produce excellent, inspiring graduates who are ready to make real contributions to the future.
