The ITS Geophysical Engineering Department held a Field Study as a form of practtical study for the Petrology Course. Held in 1 day, this activity was performed on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Supervised by Petrology lecturer, Dr. Ir. M Haris Miftakhul Fajar, S.T., M.Eng., this field study was enthusiastically attended by all ITS Geophysical Engineering students of the 2024 batch. Taking 2 locations, Ranu Grati Pasuruan and Wringinanom Gresik, this Petrology practical study aims to apply the knowledge that has been given in lectures, especially describing igneous rocks, pyroclastic rocks, and sedimentary rocks, as well as observing geomorphology in the area being studied.

Field trip activities are one of the most important and effective learning methods to be able to link theory with reality in the field. Field trips can provide opportunities for students to be able to make direct observations of geological conditions in the open air, discuss directly with the supervising lecturer and practicum assistant about phenomena encountered in the field, and practice skills in describing rocks.
