[Surabaya, June 17, 2026] — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) officially presented the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server for automated compliance in food supply chains, targeting both Halal certification and EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). The session, led by Nur Aini Rakhmawati (ADDI – SI – ITS), showcased how ITS is leveraging AI and real-time data to make compliance verification faster, more accurate, and audit-ready for the global food industry.

The MCP Server provides a secure bridge between live supply chain data and AI assistants, allowing instant verification of: (i) Halal certificate status of suppliers, (ii) End-to-end ingredient tracing and cross-contamination risks, (iii) Geolocation and deforestation data for EU market compliance, (iv) Automated generation of Due Diligence Statements (DDS) for suppliers.

During the program, Nur Aini demonstrated real-world AI use cases, such as:

  • Rapid supplier onboarding with “Yes/No” compliance answers backed by live data
  • Automated audit report generation for expiring supplier certificates

The program also involved two international students from CY Tech, FranceBalit Ilian and AHMED Naël — who actively participated in the project, contributing to AI integration and testing scenarios. Their involvement highlights ITS’s commitment to global collaboration and knowledge exchange.

“The MCP Server ensures that AI responses are grounded in verified databases, eliminating errors and speeding up compliance checks,” said Nur Aini.

The project roadmap spans 12 weeks, from discovery and mapping of data sources, core MCP server development, AI integration with internal LLMs (Claude, GPT-4, or Llama 3), to pilot testing with key suppliers and dashboard integration.

Business impact includes:

  • Risk mitigation: avoiding fines, shipment rejections, and Halal decertification
  • Efficiency: reducing verification time from days to seconds
  • Market access: seamless compliance for both strict EU markets and the $2+ trillion global Halal market

This innovation positions ITS as a leader in AI-driven compliance solutions, supporting the food industry in meeting rigorous Halal and environmental standards, while ensuring traceability, auditability, and sustainability across the supply chain
