Berangkat dari hal tersebut, tim mahasiswa <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\/kimia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Departemen Kimia<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/its.ac.id\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> mengembangkan Facocat, yakni pasir kucing ramah lingkungan berbahan dasar <em>fly ash<\/em> dan arang aktif dari sabut kelapa.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ketua tim Kalinda Ayu Prasasti mengungkapkan bahwa inovasi ini lahir karena mayoritas bahan dasar pasir kucing bersifat karsinogenik dan tentunya berbahaya bagi kucing. \u201cOleh karena itu, kami mencoba memanfaatkan sabut kelapa dan abu layang (<em>fly ash<\/em>) yang lebih ramah lingkungan pada pembuatan pasir untuk kucing ini,\u201d terang Kalinda.<\/p>\n<p>Membahas produk inovasinya lebih rinci, Kalinda menjelaskan, sabut kelapa memiliki kandungan selulosa yang berpotensi diolah menjadi arang aktif. Hal tersebut didasarkan pada kemampuan <em>fly ash<\/em> untuk menyerap kelembaban dengan cepat akibat tingkat porositas yang tinggi. \u201cSehingga Facocat dapat langsung dibuang ke tanah tanpa mencemari lingkungan,\u201d tambah alumnus SMA Negeri 1 Bekasi ini.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam proses pengolahannya, Kalinda mengatakan bahwa pembuatan Facocat tergolong sederhana. Diterangkannya, Facocat dibuat dengan mengaktivasi dua bahan tersebut (<em>fly ash<\/em> dan arang aktif) dengan bantuan zat pengikat agar sifat penyerapannya muncul. Usai diaktivasi, kedua bahan dicampurkan lalu diberi air, dan selanjutnya dibentuk menjadi pasir menggunakan mesin granulator hingga siap pakai.<\/p>\n<p>Di balik cara pembuatannya yang sederhana, menurut Kalinda, Facocat menjadi pelopor pasir kucing ramah lingkungan pertama di Indonesia. Kalinda menuturkan, timnya mengupayakan perluasan pemasaran dengan memanfaatkan media sosial Instagram. \u201cTak hanya menjual Facocat, kami juga mengedukasi pengikut kami tentang manfaat dan pentingnya pasir kucing yang baik,\u201d tuturnya.<\/p>\n<p>Melalui inovasi ini, tim yang dibimbing oleh Guru Besar Kimia ITS Prof Hamzah Fanshuri SSi MSi PhD tersebut juga telah berhasil menjadi salah satu pemenang ajang <a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\/2023\/12\/01\/membanggakan-its-raih-20-gelar-juara-di-ajang-pimnas-ke-36\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional (Pimnas) ke-36<\/a> tahun 2023 lalu pada kategori Poster untuk Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa-Kewirausahaan (PKM-K). \u201cHarapannya, Facocat dapat segera dikomersilkan secara massal dan membawa kebermanfaatan baik bagi hewan peliharaan maupun lingkungan,\u201d pungkasnya berharap. <strong>(HUMAS ITS)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reporter: Hibar Buana Puspa<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kampus ITS, ITS News \u2013 Banyaknya masyarakat yang memelihara kucing di Indonesia memantik adanya peluang pasar tertentu yang cukup besar, salah satunya adalah penggunaan pasir kucing.
