Surabaya, IT Journalistic — The Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (FTEIC), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), has once again expanded its international networking through the signing of an Implementation Arrangement (IA) with the Department of Computer Science, School of Engineering and Science, Dili Institute of Technology (DIT), Timor-Leste, on Wednesday (8/7). This strategic agreement serves as the foundation for the international workshop titled “Advanced Coding with Python for AI and Data Science.”
The IA was officially signed by the Head of the ITS Information Technology Department, Dr.techn. Ir. Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi, M.Sc., and Dr. Edio da Costa, M.Cs., Executive Director of the Graduate School, Research and ICT at Dili Institute of Technology. This momentum underscores the strong commitment of both institutions to enhance academic collaboration, particularly in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, and human resource competency development.

Through this partnership, the two institutions agreed to hold an international workshop aimed at boosting Python programming skills for AI and Data Science applications among DIT students. Beyond technical training, the event is designed as a platform for exchanging knowledge, experiences, and best practices in the IT sector between lecturers and students from both countries.
The execution of the program is comprehensively divided. The ITS Information Technology Department holds full responsibility for organizing the workshop, providing expert speakers, training facilities, documentation, and technical coordination. Meanwhile, the Dili Institute of Technology plays a crucial role in coordinating the participants and ensuring students actively present their case-based projects.
Dr.techn. Ir. Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi, M.Sc. stated that this collaboration is a manifestation of the ITS Information Technology Department’s effort to expand the impact of higher education’s tridarma (education, research, and community service). “Through this event, we hope to share our experience and knowledge with Dili Institute of Technology students, while simultaneously opening up broader opportunities for future collaboration in education, research, and community service, especially within Southeast Asia,” he emphasized.

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Edio da Costa, M.Cs. expressed profound appreciation for the established partnership with ITS, recognized as one of Indonesia’s pioneering technology campuses. According to him, this workshop provides a golden opportunity for DIT students to delve deeper into Python programming—a fundamental skill that currently dominates the global AI and Data Science industry landscape.
Synergy for Sustainable Development (SDGs)
This cross-border collaboration also embodies ITS’s commitment to supporting the internationalization of higher education and accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which include:
SDG 4 (Quality Education): By increasing access to quality, technology-relevant education.
SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure): By strengthening technological capacity and driving digital innovation among students.
SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Through the formation of strategic partnerships and knowledge transfer among international educational institutions.
With the ratification of this Implementation Arrangement, ITS and Dili Institute of Technology hold high hopes to continuously foster further collaborative programs. This step is believed to yield positive implications for the academic communities of both parties, while significantly contributing to the advancement of the global education and technology ecosystem.
