DPTSI held a socialization session regarding the Optimization of the Transition to Windows 11. Windows 11 was introduced as an operating system with various feature improvements, covering visual design, productivity, security, and integration with Microsoft 365 services. Although some features may appear to be minor updates, in practice these features have a significant impact, especially for users with intensive academic and professional activities. Multitasking & Productivity Features Windows 11 provides Snap Layout and Split Screen features that are very helpful for users who work with many documents at the same time, such as: Students working on their thesis or dissertation Lecturers and researchers who read and compare many journals Users simply connect their laptop to an external monitor, then the screen can be divided into several sections (for example, 3 sections) to open multiple applications or documents simultaneously in a neat and efficient way. System and Security Improvements Windows 11 brings improvements in system settings and device security, including: Secure Boot Security Processor Core Isolation All of these features can be monitored directly through the Settings menu and enhance system security against threats. Integration with Microsoft 365 Windows 11 is better integrated with: Microsoft 365 Azure AD (AAD) used by ITS Enterprise App Store This integration provides a more seamless experience between: Windows 11 Institutional accounts (Visi/Azure AD ITS) Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) This makes individual work and collaboration with colleagues and students easier. Automation and Development Support Windows 11 already includes Power Automate Desktop, which enables: The creation of RPA (Robotic Process Automation) Automation of tasks using desktop flows and cloud flows This feature is very beneficial for: Developers IT staff Users who work with process automation Without any additional installation, Windows 11 users can directly take advantage of Power Automate. To install Windows 11, the device must meet several main requirements, including having a valid Windows license, running Windows 10 version 2004 or later, and having at least 9 GB of free storage space. In addition, the device must also meet the security and hardware specifications defined by Microsoft. Microsoft provides several methods to install Windows 11. Users can use the Installation Assistant as the simplest and recommended method, or use the Media Creation Tool, flash drive, or ISO file for manual installation. These methods are usually used by IT teams or users who require a customized installation. With the Installation Assistant, users only need to download the file from the Microsoft website, run it, and follow the provided steps. After the agreement and installation process are completed, the system will restart and automatically switch to Windows 11. For users who already have a valid Windows license, the upgrade can also be performed through the Windows Update menu in Windows 10. If the device meets the requirements, Windows 11 will appear as an update option. Users only need to ensure a stable internet connection, then wait for the download and installation process to complete. After that, the system will automatically switch to Windows 11 without deleting existing data. With official upgrade methods, either through the Installation Assistant or Windows Update, user data such as documents and applications will remain safely stored. The entire process is designed to ensure a smooth transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11 without data loss.
