Surabaya, FT-EIC ITS – Many kindergartens in Surabaya actually have notable achievements, excellent educational programs, and attractive learning facilities, yet remain largely unrecognized by the public. These schools are generally located in peripheral areas and do not have official digital media, making information about their strengths difficult for prospective parents to access. This condition results in limited student enrollment, even though the quality of education offered is comparable to that of more well-known institutions.

Addressing this issue, the Community Service (Abmas) team from the Intelligent Information Management Laboratory, Department of Informatics Engineering, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) initiated the development of school websites for kindergarten partners in Rungkut District and parts of Sukolilo District. The program, supported by funding from the Department of Informatics Engineering in 2025, is led by Dr. Adhatus Solichah Ahmadiyah, S.Kom., M.Sc.

“Many kindergartens actually have excellent programs, attractive facilities, and even outstanding achievements, but they are not well exposed because they lack official media,” said Adhatus. “Through school websites, we aim to provide these schools with the opportunity to be better recognized and to compete more fairly.”

The websites developed are individual in nature, meaning that each partner school has its own dedicated website. The content includes essential information such as the school profile, achievements, educational programs, extracurricular activities, as well as supporting facilities and infrastructure. This information is presented in various formats, including text, photos, and documentation of school activities.

As a supporting feature, the school websites are also equipped with a simple online student registration form. This feature allows parents to express their interest in enrolling their children while helping schools manage prospective student data more efficiently. Although not designed as a complex integrated system, this feature serves as an initial step toward digitalizing a registration process that was previously handled manually.

The website development utilizes technologies that are already familiar to teachers, such as Google services, making the websites easy to manage without requiring additional maintenance costs. In addition to developing the websites, the ITS Abmas team also provides assistance to enable partner schools to update content independently and sustainably.

Through this program, ITS hopes that school websites can serve as an effective digital exposure platform for partner kindergartens, particularly those located in remote areas. With information that is more accessible to the public, these schools are expected to gain wider recognition and increase parents’ confidence in choosing the best educational environment for their children.
