ITS Campus — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has officially announced the recipients of the 2025 Overseas Post-Doctoral Program funding, a strategic initiative under the Equity World Class University (WCU) framework. This program serves as a pivotal instrument in transcending geographical boundaries by fostering high-level academic collaborations between ITS faculty members and distinguished researchers from international institutions. By facilitating these advanced scholarly exchanges, the university continues to harmonize its academic contributions with global standards, ensuring its research resonance on an international scale.
The 2025 cohort features a diverse array of partnerships spanning several nations, including Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, and Japan. Notable collaborations involve the Faculty of Science and Data Analytics, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Planning, and Geo-Engineering, and the Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering. These partnerships pair ITS host researchers with post-doctoral experts from prestigious entities such as Pusan National University, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Such rigorous intellectual engagement is designed to catalyze breakthrough innovations while simultaneously enhancing the university’s international reputation and academic recognition.
The selected recipients represent a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines aimed at addressing modern technological demands. Among the distinguished scholars are Dr. Tonni Agustiono Kurniawan from KAIST, who will collaborate with Prof. I.D.A.A. Warmadewanthi in Environmental Engineering, and Dr. Eng. Dedy Septono Catur Putranto from Pusan National University, paired with Dr. Ir. Arief Abdurakhman in Instrumentation Engineering. Other recipients include Dr. Rosnita binti Mohamed and Dr. Nuor Sariyan Binti Suhaimin from Malaysia, working alongside Prof. Hamzah Fansuri in the field of Chemistry, as well as Tran Thi Huong Sen, Ph.D., from Vietnam, who joins Mukhammad Muryono, Ph.D., in the Biology department. This collective expertise underscores ITS’s commitment to integrating world-class talent into its academic fabric.
This initiative serves as a cornerstone for ITS in achieving its vision as a World Class University by integrating global expertise into its local research ecosystem. The program’s design focuses on “Enhancing Quality Education for International University Impacts and Recognition,” which directly correlates with the university’s goal of improving its global ranking and research output. By embedding international scholars within its departments, ITS promotes a cross-pollination of ideas that enriches the quality of higher education and fosters a culture of excellence in scientific inquiry.
Furthermore, the research projects facilitated by this program are strategically aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas concerning Clean Water and Sanitation, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and Quality Education. Through specialized fields such as Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Biotechnology, the program addresses complex global challenges through sustainable technological solutions. This commitment to impactful research ensures that the partnership between ITS and its global counterparts yields tangible benefits for society, further establishing the university as a leader in sustainable development and global academic leadership.
