The Empowerment Program for MSMEs Around ITS through the Development of a Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA)-Based Training Curriculum was implemented by the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) on October 28, 2025. This activity is part of the Department’s Thematic Community Service (Abmas) Fund scheme, which addresses MSME challenges in the Gebang area, such as the absence of existing problems, high production, and minimal foundations for principles and a circular economy.

Using the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) approach, this activity utilizes a participatory problem identification and mapping method, directly involving village heads, neighborhood heads, and MSMEs. This approach is combined with manufacturing systems science to produce efficient, high-quality, and environmentally friendly solutions. Furthermore, collaboration with various laboratories at ITS is also carried out to support the implementation of comprehensive, science-based solutions.

The results of this activity include an initial mapping of the main challenges of MSMEs in the Gebang area and a plan for a PDCA-based training curriculum that can be implemented sustainably. Through this activity, ITS plays an active role in improving the competitiveness, efficiency, and quality of MSME products while also promoting infrastructure policies at the local level. This program is expected to be a concrete step in building a collaborative MSME empowerment ecosystem focused on capacity building and business startups.
