A study excursion organized by the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (DTSI ITS), was officially held as a learning activity to broaden knowledge regarding the application of modern manufacturing systems in the automotive industry. This activity aimed to provide participants with a direct understanding of best practices implemented by the industry to improve efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness. Through this study excursion, participants were expected to be able to connect academic concepts with real-world implementation.
The study excursion took place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, with a visit to PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN). During this tour, members of the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, consisting of lecturers and laboratory assistants, gained various strategic insights related to manufacturing system management. Topics covered included key technologies used by PT TMMIN, operational and supply chain digitalization, and productivity improvement strategies through the use of digital technology.
In addition, participants learned about various tools and approaches that underpin PT TMMIN’s operations, such as the Toyota Production System and the Toyota Way, as well as employee competency development. Through this activity, participants are expected to gain a comprehensive perspective on the integration of technology, systems, and human resources in creating superior manufacturing processes. Therefore, this comparative study is a strategic step in supporting the development of learning and improving the quality of human resources in the manufacturing systems sector.
