Surabaya, August 31, 2022 — A team of students from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (TSI), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) proudly achieved First Place in the National Scientific Writing Competition HIMAKI FEST 3.0: Chemistry and The Last Victoria 2022, organized by the Chemistry Student Association of Universitas Sriwijaya.
Held from June 25 to August 31, 2022, the competition carried the theme “Youth Strategies and Innovations to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Implementation of Post-Pandemic Science.” Through their paper titled “ACHERON: Optimization of Waste Reduction Processes in Flood-Prone Aquatic Areas of Surabaya City,” team members Inastika Nabilah, Bagas W. Wicaksono, Made Laksmi, and Ariyani impressed the judges with their innovative approach to environmental waste management.
Their project focused on developing a practical solution to reduce water pollution and waste accumulation in flood-prone areas of Surabaya while supporting the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By integrating technology and systematic analysis, the team demonstrated how industrial engineering knowledge can contribute to solving complex urban environmental issues.
This achievement marks another proud milestone for the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering ITS, highlighting how TSI students continue to innovate and compete across disciplines to create a more sustainable future.
