The Manufacturing Systems Guest Lecture, hosted by the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), was officially held as part of a learning program aimed at enriching students’ understanding of manufacturing industry practices. This activity, in collaboration with PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) as an industrial partner, provided students with firsthand exposure to the real-world application of modern manufacturing systems. This guest lecture is expected to foster a connection between academic concepts and dynamic industry needs.
The guest lecture took place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time), and featured a professional speaker from PT TMMIN, Mr. Arif Mustofa. During the presentation, the speaker comprehensively explained the Toyota Production System (TPS), from its basic understanding and key concepts to the methodology applied within the Toyota Manufacturing System. The material presented provided a concrete illustration of how the principles of efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement are implemented in the manufacturing process.
Through this guest lecture, students teaching the Manufacturing Systems course are expected to gain a broader industrial perspective and understand the relevance of applying the theories learned in class. In addition to deepening their understanding of the Toyota Production System, this activity also encourages students to be better prepared to face the challenges of the industrial world. Therefore, this guest lecture is a strategic step in supporting the development of student competencies that are adaptive and aligned with the needs of the modern manufacturing industry.
