A study excursion organized by the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (DTSI ITS), was officially held as part of an applied learning program aimed at broadening participants’ knowledge of sustainable manufacturing practices in the industrial world. This activity was designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of the application of business process concepts, company values, and sustainability strategies relevant to the development of industrial engineering.
The study excursion took place on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, with the purpose of visiting PT Komatsu Remanufacturing Asia. During this opportunity, members of the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, consisting of lecturers and laboratory assistants, received an in-depth presentation on the company’s core business processes, particularly in remanufacturing activities. Furthermore, participants learned how PT Komatsu Remanufacturing Asia internalizes and implements the CHAMPIONS values as the foundation of its work culture, supporting operational performance and product quality.
Furthermore, this study excursion provided strategic insights into PT Komatsu Remanufacturing Asia’s vision for sustainable production and consumption processes, including the company’s commitment to supporting environmentally friendly industrial practices. Participants also gained an understanding of company expectations regarding the application of Life Cycle Analysis as a tool for evaluating product and process sustainability. Through this activity, participants not only gained technical and managerial understanding but also recognized the importance of integrating values, innovation, and sustainability in building a competitive and responsible manufacturing system.
