The Master of Industrial Engineering program in the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering (DTSI) at ITS aims to produce graduates who possess comprehensive knowledge of engineering in the industrial world. Graduates of this program are designed to be able to formulate industrial problems within an industrial system and propose alternative solutions. Furthermore, graduates are expected to master and innovatively develop knowledge in the field of Systems and Industrial Engineering with an emphasis on a systems approach. Accordingly, graduates are also required to have the ability to manage research or development activities in the field of Systems and Industrial Engineering based on scientific principles and to communicate their ideas and research results both face-to-face and in scientific writing.
The ITS Master of Industrial Engineering program has eight (8) concentration areas, one of which is an international concentration with English as the medium of instruction and a research-based undergraduate program. The eight offered concentration areas include:
Master’s students must complete 36 semester credit units (SKS) consisting of compulsory courses, electives, and a thesis. The normal duration to complete the master’s program is 2 years, although high-achieving students may finish in 1.5 years. The thesis carries a weight of 6 SKS and students will be supervised by a lecturer. Students must present their thesis proposal before an examination panel. When the thesis report is completed, students must defend their thesis. As part of the degree requirements, students must present their thesis work at national or international conferences or publish it in national or international academic journals.
Admissions are held twice a year. The first semester begins in early September, while the second semester begins in early February. More information about the admissions process is available at https://www.its.ac.id/admission/pascasarjana/
The Master of Engineering (Magister Teknik, MT) degree will be awarded to those who have met all requirements.
The Master of Industrial Engineering study program, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at ITS has established the following vision and mission: Vision: To become a leading master’s institution in industrial engineering with an international reputation and capable of supporting sustainable national development.
Mission:
This concentration prepares graduates to understand concepts and have the ability to design, operate, manage, and carry out continuous improvements on manufacturing systems intelligently (smart) to become more efficient while considering environmental issues (green). Graduates of this concentration are suitable to work in various sectors, both manufacturing and services.
This concentration equips graduates with deep analytical skills, heavily using mathematical models (optimization), statistical models, and simulation models. Its graduates will be suitable to work in various fields that require analysis of complex systems in both manufacturing and service industries.
This concentration equips graduates with the ability to design, plan, operate, and control the flow of materials from upstream to downstream across organizations. Its graduates will be suitable to work in manufacturing industries for functions such as production planning and inventory control, procurement, warehousing, and in the logistics industry.
This concentration is designed to provide graduates with knowledge about the engineering of systems, products, and services so they can be used by people effectively and efficiently while taking into account occupational safety and health principles. Graduates of this concentration will be suitable to work in various sectors related to the design of systems that involve human elements and in the field of occupational safety & health across industries.
This concentration equips graduates with the knowledge and skills to manage engineering projects, design new products, and drive innovation. Graduates are suitable to work in the manufacturing industry, the services sector, and the public sector.
This concentration is intended for industry professionals who wish to pursue further study at the master’s level. It provides graduates with new knowledge in Systems and Industrial Engineering to enhance students’ ability to solve real industrial problems based on theoretical knowledge. The existing KI curriculum has been designed to be adaptive to requests for specialization in particular functional areas. Curriculum Document – 33 through 5 elective courses that can be customized according to industry requests.
The Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering also offers a graduate program on the research track. The research-track master’s program is completed over a period of 2 (two) years with a study load of 36 credits, covering 12 credits of coursework, research, and thesis publication.
Learning outcomes are the abilities targeted for every graduate of the program to possess. For the Master of Industrial Engineering program, the learning outcomes specified in the 2023–2028 curriculum are:
Postgraduate students in Industrial Systems Engineering will be prepared as leaders and innovators in global competition within industrial management. This program will also provide other skills such as critical and analytical thinking, leadership, communication, teamwork, and creativity in developing and implementing information system solutions.
