A study excursion organized by the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (DTSI ITS), was officially held as an applied learning activity aimed at broadening participants’ knowledge regarding the application of modern business processes, particularly in the aircraft maintenance and upkeep industry. This activity was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of operational systems, production process sustainability, and the application of industrial technology to support company competitiveness.
The study excursion took place on Friday, October 31, 2025, with the purpose of visiting PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk. During this opportunity, members of the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, consisting of lecturers and laboratory assistants, received an explanation of the company’s core business processes and how PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk.’s three pillars of commitment play a role in driving more sustainable business processes. Furthermore, participants learned about the company’s vision for sustainable production and consumption processes, its strategy for minimizing production waste, and PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk.’s role as a pioneer in Industry 4.0-based Business Process Outsourcing.
Through this activity, participants also gained a deep understanding of the implementation of company values in daily operations as the foundation of a professional, adaptive, and innovative work culture. This comparative study not only enriched academic and practical insights regarding technology-based manufacturing and service systems but also emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in preparing superior human resources, globally competitive, and ready to face the challenges of sustainable industrial transformation.
