A study excursion organized by the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (DTSI ITS), was officially held as a learning activity to broaden knowledge regarding human resource management practices and manufacturing systems in industry. This activity aims to provide a concrete overview of competency development strategies and organizational sustainability in a large-scale manufacturing environment. Through this tour, participants are expected to understand the relationship between manufacturing systems, human resource development, and a company’s competitive advantage.
The study excursion took place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, with the purpose of visiting PT Komatsu Indonesia. During this tour, members of the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, consisting of lecturers and laboratory assistants, gained various insights related to employee management and development. Topics covered included hard skills development through training centers, employee recruitment systems and strategies through the Leadership Development Program, and the company’s efforts to continuously improve human resource quality.
Through this study excursion, participants are expected to adopt the values and best practices implemented by PT Komatsu Indonesia in employee and organizational development. In addition to enriching academic perspectives, this activity also serves as a relevant learning tool to support future improvements in the management quality of the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory. Thus, this comparative study is a strategic step in strengthening the synergy between the academic and industrial worlds to create superior and competitive human resources.
