The Sustainable Manufacturing Guest Lecture, hosted by the Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), was officially held as a learning activity aimed at broadening students’ horizons regarding the future development of the manufacturing industry. This activity, in collaboration with PT Komatsu Remanufacturing Asia as an industrial partner, provided students with a concrete understanding of the application of sustainable manufacturing concepts in industrial practice. Through this guest lecture, participants were expected to understand the importance of transforming manufacturing systems towards more adaptive and sustainable processes.
The guest lecture took place on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time), and featured a professional speaker, Mr. Hendy. During the presentation, the speaker presented material on the topic “Factory of the Future,” which discussed the concept of future industry and the implementation strategy for sustainable industry at PT Komatsu Remanufacturing Asia. The presentation examined how technology integration, process efficiency, and sustainability principles can be applied to support long-term business operations.
Through this guest lecture, students were expected to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the application of sustainable industry concepts in the real world. In addition to providing an industry perspective relevant to the course material, this activity also encouraged students to think critically about the role of industrial engineering in realizing sustainable manufacturing processes. Thus, this guest lecture is a strategic step in raising awareness of the importance of sustainability as an integral part of manufacturing system development across various industrial sectors.
