SDG 8: DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

“Decent work in safe and stable conditions is a vital component of helping people out of poverty, with the related aspects of reducing hunger and increasing health. The rise of precarious employment, modern slavery, and uneven growth has created threats to a sustainable future. Universities as employers can lead the way, as teachers can educate for the future, and as innovators can develop new and fairer ways of working.”

ITS is dedicated to ensuring fair employment practices by implementing living wage measures. To achieve this, ITS has established a set of regulations that guarantee equitable compensation for all staff and faculty members. Specifically, ITS has enacted nine regulations focused on employment practices, living wages, and pay scale equity.

Policies regarding staff wages are outlined in two key documents: Regulation of the ITS Rector No. 7 of 2020 and Regulation of the ITS Rector No. 8 of 2020. Regulation No. 7 of 2020 specifies that wages are composed of four components: pay based on the individual, pay for the position, pay for performance, and additional benefits. Meanwhile, Regulation of the ITS Rector No. 8 of 2020 addresses additional monthly income for ITS employees. These regulations stipulate that salaries must be adjusted to meet the city’s minimum living wage requirements.
