ITS Campus Waste Disposal

The ITS campus area produces 500 kg/day of leaf and garden waste from street cleaning and 204 kg/day of food, leaf, and garden waste from dormitories and units, all of which are biodegradable. Organic waste generation of 704 kg of waste/day is collected to the compost house to be processed into compost, and 140 kg/day is the residue transported to the TPS.

Organic waste from food waste from canteens in several ITS departments is also processed using biogas.

1. Biogas Reactor Department of Instrumentation Engineering to process organic waste generated by ITS amounting to 100 kg/day. This biogas processing results from research by teaching staff of the ITS Instrumentation Engineering Department, who have obtained a patent so that the gas produced is renewable.

2. Biogas Reactor of the Department of Industrial Chemical Engineering to process organic waste generated by ITS of 100 kg/day.
