[Surabaya, May 13, 2026] — SD Khadijah Wonorejo Surabaya held the culmination of the D2D “Discover to Deliver” Exhibition Day for the 2025/2026 academic year as a platform for sixth-grade students to present and showcase their work. The event, held at the Hall Room of SD Khadijah Wonorejo, carried the theme “Smart Living: Environmentally Friendly Technology and Healthy Food for a Great Generation.”
The event was attended by students, teachers, parents, representatives of Yayasan Khadijah, and officials from the Surabaya City Education Office. The atmosphere was lively and full of enthusiasm, marked by various student innovation booths showcasing simple and environmentally friendly technology products, as well as creative food products independently developed by the students.
On this occasion, a representative of Yayasan Khadijah expressed appreciation for the successful implementation of D2D Exhibition Day, which aligns with Khadijah’s educational spirit in shaping students who are not only academically excellent, but also possess strong character, creativity, social awareness, and the courage to express ideas. The Principal of SD Khadijah Wonorejo Surabaya, Dr. H. M. Rochman Firdian, S.H.I., M.Ag., stated that this activity served as a real learning process for students to understand problems and find solutions together. Meanwhile, the Head of the Surabaya City Education Office, Febrina Kusumawati, appreciated the event as a form of learning that encourages students to become an adaptive, communicative, and solution-oriented generation.
As part of the assessment process, SD Khadijah Wonorejo invited panelists to provide evaluation, appreciation, and constructive feedback on the students’ work. One of the invited panelists was Prof. Setiyo Gunawan, S.T., Ph.D., Professor at the Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering and Head of the Halal Center at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). In the food category, students were encouraged not only to present creative and marketable products, but also to consider food safety aspects. As Panelist 1, He emphasized that food innovation must still pay attention to the safety of ingredients, cleanliness of the production process, hygiene of equipment, storage methods, and product suitability for consumption.
“Under Indonesian food regulations, food safety is understood as the conditions and efforts required to prevent food from biological, chemical, and other contaminants that may endanger human health, while also ensuring that it does not conflict with the religion, beliefs, and culture of the community.” said Gunawan as Head of the Halal Center ITS.
Through D2D Exhibition Day, SD Khadijah Wonorejo Surabaya demonstrated its commitment to providing contextual, creative, and meaningful learning experiences. The event did not merely showcase final products, but also served as a space for students to learn through the process, build confidence, sharpen communication skills, and foster awareness of the environment and healthy living.
With the successful implementation of this event, SD Khadijah Wonorejo Surabaya hopes that students will continue to develop a spirit of innovation, collaboration skills, and readiness to become polite, creative, and competitive lifelong learners.
