ITS Library Podcast Features the Story of Fahrul Rizal’s Journey from Parking Attendant to Technician

Surabaya — The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Library once again presented the ITS Library Podcast (Podpus) with the theme “Inspiring Stories: From Parking Attendant to Library Renovation Leader” on Thursday (Oct. 1). The podcast was broadcast live on the ITS Library’s YouTube channel, featuring Fahrul Rizal, a Facilities and Infrastructure Maintenance Technician, as the guest, and Asri Fatihatus Syafira, an ITS librarian, as the host.

In the podcast, Fahrul shared his career journey, from joining ITS in 2017 as part of the parking team to being appointed as a technician at the ITS Library. That journey also included his experience participating in ITS Improvement 2018, when Fahrul and his team developed the concept for an RFID-based smart parking system and successfully made it to the top 10 finalists.

As a technician, Fahrul not only handles damage reports but also actively inspects facilities in various areas of the library. One of the innovations discussed in the podcast is the use of motion-sensor lights in the restrooms as a way to promote energy conservation.

Through his story, Fahrul conveyed that everyone has the opportunity to grow and make a contribution through innovation. He also encouraged students and library users not to hesitate to report any damaged facilities so that the issues can be addressed promptly.
