Review of the Book “Pulang”

This story begins with Bujang, a 15-year-old teenager who is incredibly skilled at hunting wild boars. His extraordinary abilities impressed Tauke Muda, a respected figure. Eventually, Tauke Muda took Bujang to the city and raised him as his own son.

The young man, who used to be quiet and had never attended school, grew up to become a highly professional adult in his line of work. All his basic needs and educational expenses were covered by Teuku Muda. Because of his love of fighting, he was trained by the best instructors, until he eventually became Teuku Muda’s trusted bodyguard.

Thanks to his fighting skills, Bujang became Teuku Muda’s right-hand man. He was involved in various important missions, ranging from cracking down on gambling to stealing secret codes from Master Dragon’s family. His success in these missions led Bujang to the capital to carry out even more significant tasks for Teuku Muda.

As time went on, Teuku Muda’s health continued to decline. Since he was convinced that Bujang was the only one he could trust, Teuku Muda offered Bujang the position of Head of the Family, putting him in charge of everyone who had been working for him all along.

As a token of his gratitude, Bujang remains loyal to Teuku Muda, who has played a major role in his life. Bujang also manages to uncover a traitor within Teuku Muda’s extended family—someone who, it turns out, harbors a long-standing grudge. But in the midst of all this, Bujang receives news that his mother has left without anyone knowing where she went. This makes Bujang feel he must return to his hometown to confirm the news about his mother.

Bujang’s story is full of life lessons—from his struggle to pursue an education to his eventual success, the way he repays those who have helped him, his fight against betrayal, and his desire to return home to his deeply respected and beloved parents.
